TIME COMMITMENT: Approx.4 days a month, with some match day attendance. This role is pro bono

Kent Cricket is one of only 18 professional county cricket clubs in England and Wales. Established in 1870, and still a members’ club, Kent has been a force in English cricket for over 150 years. We are responsible for the growth and development of all cricket, from community and schools’ cricket to the elite, professional game, across the county of Kent and the four “metropolitan Kent” London boroughs of Lewisham, Greenwich, Bexley and Bromley.

Kent CCC seeks to identify and appoint a new Chair to join and lead our board. This is an opportunity to lead the board through a period of evolution for the Club and within the wider game.  The Chair will be expected to guide the Board through the next phase of Kent CCC’s strategy and to bring fresh ideas, perspectives and approaches to the role. The ability to help evaluate and lead the board through key strategic opportunities including the Beckenham Stadium project as well as engaging with existing and new audiences will be a key focus of the role.

We are looking for an individual who can help lead and guide our board and support the executive in ensuring we continue to move forward and explore new opportunities for the Club. Along with the Directors and supported by a capable executive team, you will be integral in helping shape the strategy for the Club for the future, ensuring good governance and long-term strategic planning for the Club.

The successfully appointed candidate will demonstrate senior leadership experience within their respected field, an enthusiasm to help set strategy, experience in change management and provide guidance and insight as we explore future opportunities for the Club. Strongly inclusive and empathetic in their approach, they will be collaborative and consultative, helping to drive collective decision-making in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. An ability to work lead and work collaboratively with our board, as well as with our Chief Executive will be critical. They will bring a passion for cricket and the power of sport as well as a strong appreciation for the role of contemporary governance. Demonstrating balanced judgement, absolute integrity and excellent communication skills. We are particularly seeking individuals with existing non-executive experience, with experience at Chair level considered advantageous.

As a commitment to our values, we welcome and encourage applications from anyone who shares our commitment to robust commercial operation and good governance, cricketing excellence and our profound community engagement. We particularly encourage applications from women, Black, Asian and minority ethnic people, those from LGBTQ+ communities, and individuals with disabilities with a desire to increase the representation of these groups at Board level and beyond.
